Jim Erickson - Solo Jazz Pianist

I am leading an improvisation workshop at IJF. George Russell's book, "The Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization for Improvisation" has long been a hobby of mine. Much of the book is devoted to scale theory. I will draw out of it only chapters four and five which explain his four directions or dimensions for melodic construction. Concepts will be explained using music notation and historic jazz videos. This a hands-on workshop with a rhythm section. Geared toward the serious jazz student of all ages, it will be informative AND fun!
