My cousin, Pete Steinhauer, asked me to play at the reception for his son, Alex and bride, Talia. It's a great honor to be asked by family to perform. Pete and I are the same age. We grew up together. The flood of memories from our childhood, so many good, some very tragic, can get overwhelming sometimes. My uncle Woody, Pete's father, died from heart disease when he was only in his early fifties. Aunt Betty, Pete's mother, suffered a devastating stroke just a few years later. Before the stroke, she did take an excellent picture of me at the piano, playing my 40 hours per week, Holiday Inn gig. My mother displayed that photo until the very end. Today it serves well as an historic record of me from that period.
